Applied Neurology

Restoring balance to your nervous system with a brain-based approach so you can do the things you love, pain-free.

Applied Neurology is a specialized field of training that focuses on understanding and improving the function of the brain and nervous system, revolving around targeted, non-invasive neuroscience drills that facilitate healing without drugs, technology or surgery. By addressing the areas of the brain that may be underperforming (rather than only treating symptoms), we are able to pinpoint underlying issues that may be affecting a person’s overall health.

Our brains are the control center for everything we’ve ever experienced in our lives. And our brain and nervous system govern how well we move, feel and live.

The brain’s main goal is survival, through prediction and pattern recognition. It constantly assesses sensory inputs to determine if a situation is safe or threatening. When it perceives a threat, it triggers protective responses such as:

Pain

Tension

Weakness

Fatigue

Nausea

Migraines

Dizziness

Inflexibility

Emotional distress

Identifying which brain systems are underperforming allows for targeted intervention. This involves assessing and training the 3 primary sensory systems - visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive - to determine their current state and functionality. By locating areas that need improvement, Applied Neurology can focus on specific exercises that target these underperforming systems. By recalibrating the brain’s response to sensory inputs from these systems, it will help reduce unnecessary stress responses, enhance mobility, reduce pain and tension, improve emotional resilience and more.

Applied Neurology is not just for strokes or brain injuries. Whether you’re looking for more ease in how you move, improved balance, or support with stress and emotional wellness, we’ll explore what helps your system find more comfort, stability, and capacity - so you can move through life with more ease, and do everything that you enjoy to the fullest potential.

Why Consider a Brain-Based Program?

A brain-based program is essential for anyone looking to optimize their health and well-being. You can proactively address potential issues before they become problems by identifying hidden compensations and imbalances in your nervous system.

LIVE PAIN-FREE

Alleviate chronic pain and tension through targeted exercises designed to address the root causes of discomfort.

BETTER BALANCE & MOBILITY

Develop greater balance and mobility, reducing the risk of falls and related injuries.

INCREASE STRENGTH & ENDURANCE

Increase your stamina and energy levels for enhanced athletic performance, daily activities & physical exercises.

PREVENT INJURIES

Identify and correct neuro-muscle imbalances and weaknesses to prevent injuries and reduce pain.

IMPROVE MENTAL WELL-BEING

Experience mental health benefits, such as reduced stress, improved mood and emotional regulation.

FASTER RECOVERY

Accelerate the rehabilitation timeframe from injury, surgery and neurological conditions.

What to Expect

The first session will consist of a comprehensive health history review and neurological/movement assessments to measure your brain’s current level of function and where it may be underperforming. We will then use specific drills and exercises to pinpoint which ones provide a positive response, such as improving range of motion or decreasing pain and tension. Applied Neurology offers tools and techniques that can lead to immediate, observable changes. This ensures that the chosen tools are effective, and also that it remains tailored to your unique needs. These drills will then be utilized in between weekly sessions.

Your home program may include postural re-education, joint mobility, isometric exercises along with a combination of strategies, such as sensory stimulation drills, neuromechanic drills, fascia mobilization, vagus nerve stimulation via breathing drills, and visual & vestibular activation drills.

The brain functions on pattern recognition, and it takes time for your brain to adjust to new changes - with time and consistency, we work to rewire your brain, improve mobility, increase nervous system resilience and improve your overall health.
